Description: I brought this back from my Peruvian travels many years ago. i found it in Cusco at the flea market. i only recently got it open by gently lubricating the slide arm until it came free. although the key does turn a mechanism i can feel and hear, it does not lock the device. the overall measurement is 14 x 7”. Although i did see more than a few smaller versions of this particular design, this one is apparently rare and probably for a large wooden gate with the two forged eyebolts where the two gates meet and this lock slides through. the shaft measures 3/4”. i have been tempted to grind the rivets off the body to remove the plate and get it working, but humbly realize tgat may destroy the value. better left to someone who knows more than i do about Spanish antiquities. i was told its from the 17-18th century by the woman who sold it to me. if you know better please correct me.
