Description: This rare 1900s Frank P. Lewis "Emerson" litho 10 "poet size" cigar tin, measuring 3 1/2" x 5" x 1 1/4", is in very good condition with no rust or dents and some minor age related paint scratches and chips. Much of the original high gloss finish remains. This very attractive multicolored tin features a portrait of the literary giant Ralph Waldo Emerson. The cigars were manufactured by the Frank P. Lewis Cigar Company,Peoria, IL in Factory 439, District of IL. Frank Lewis was an early model employer who was concerned about his employees and their working conditions. His factory had windows on all for sides as well as indoor bathrooms. He also developed the original process for packing cigars in tin foil.
