Description: This rare 1910s Swiss Waldorf-Astoria "Clio" hinged litho 20 cigarette tin, measuring 2 3/4” x 4 7/8" is in good condition with no rust or dents and some minor age related paint scratches and chips. Much of the original high gloss finish remains. The hinge is in excellent working order.The cigarettes were manufactured by the Waldorf-Astoria Zigarettenfabrik, in Zurich, Switzerland This highly attractive midnight blue, red and gold tin features a golden sun with the company trademark in the center. The company was founded by Emil Molt who named his company after business tycoon Johann Jacob Aster who was born in Waldorf Germany (1763-1848) and immigrated to the USA and became the richest man in the country.
