Description: I found this piece in a really great auction in Pennsylvania that had a ton of famous autographs and letters of politicians. This one has original note on the envelope it was in that says "Woodrow Wilson handwritten notes (include shorthand) for 1916 letter to NJ Gov." The letter is completely written in pencil with half words and half shorthand so it is extremely hard to make sense of. It is titled "Peace" and has 17 pages (each measures 4" x 5.25" and numbered from 1 to 17). When you hold the pages up to the light, you can see the presidential watermark on the paper. On the first page there is a stain from the rust of a paper clip that's been on it for a very long time. The back page has one also. I have never had anyone look at this but I have done a lot of research on Woodrow Wilson handwriting and I would say without a doubt that this was written by him. If you know a lot about Woodrow Wilson, he wrote a lot of his notes and rough drafts in shorthand as he was dyslexic. When he was in school, he had a hard time keeping up with other students so he learned shorthand. I know in the WWI-era, Woodrow Wilson was a big advocate for peace and I believe he even won a Nobel Peace Prize. I have had this quite a long time and I have no doubt that it is authentic.
