Description: This aluminum block lighter is from Christmas 1945. After WWII ended, brass and steel were in short supply, but aluminum was cheap and plentiful due to the amount of planes used in the war. The war surplus was broken down, melted, and recycled and found its way into many industries. This was likely made in the USA, though there are no manufacturer markings. The lighter features an emblem with a printed Chevrolet logo on one side and then the other side is engraved Jane S White Christmas 1945. Cosmetically it is in good condition, with wear and tear appropriate for its age. There are surface scratches, scuffs, and dings throughout polished aluminum but it still maintains a smooth finish. There are patches of aluminum tarnish and oxidation throughout causing the silver color to darken - See pictures for details.
