Description: Rare: 1945 Battle of Okinawa Collection of 129 Photos – 40th N.C.B. & Chimu Airfield This rare vintage collection consists of 129 photos taken of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 40 during the battle of Okinawa in 1945. Most photos are of the construction of Chimu Airfield and the first flights to land. The airfield is the current site of United States Marine Corps Base Camp Hansen in Kin, Okinawa. Except for one loose photo, 128 photos are glued double sided to card stock, and most photos have a date and detailed description. Please feel free to ask any questions.
