RARE 1960 Coca-Cola Double-Sided Cardboard Litho Sign & Kay Displays 1940s Frame

Description: This is RARE 1960's Coca-Cola Double Sided, “Enjoy That REFRESHING NEW FEELING” Drink Coca-Cola Cardboard Point of Sale Seasonal Advertising Lithograph Sign displayed in an original 1940’s Kays Displays Coca-Cola Frame. This rare and highly collectible original Coca-Cola litho sign is a cardboard seasonal advertising sign from the early 1960’s era. The beach scene side was to be displayed during the months of March-June, and the other side flipped over to display November-February, as printed at the bottom center in tiny font on each side. The sign does have wear indicative to age and usage, such as scratches, a few tiny holes, some fading, small crease, some pencil marks on lower right corner on the litho on the backside (see up-close photos of these). However, the colors are beautiful and vibrant. The sign measures 20”x 36”. Overall measurements with frame are 25”x 41”. About the wartime art deco Inspiration frame: This is the 2nd style of Kay Displays Frame for Coca-Cola and was produced 1941-1946. The art deco inspired “Gold Wood Frames”, with the metal bottle and leaf medallion and a metal bar on each side, has become an icon in the Coca-Cola collector world. Made by Kay Displays, Inc. in Grand Rapids, Michigan, these series of frames were first offered around 1941 for the cardboard lithos, and were eventually replaced by a more streamlined, less decorative frame design in 1947. This particular frame style was offered to accommodate four standardized sizes of Coca-Cola advertising lithos inserts — 16x27 inch vertical, 20x36 inch horizontal, 29x50 inch vertical and 27x56 inch horizontal. The frames were used in settings where one would want point-of-purchase advertising for bottled Coca-Cola, such as a grocery store, soda fountain, pool hall. or diner. Typically each cardboard insert was replaced with a new cardboard insert each season of the year. In the case of double-sided lithos, it was just removed and flipped over, and reinserted. Because of their popularity, they were continued to be used for many years. This frame is in good condition with the metal medallion and its side rods intact. This original combination (litho cardboard advertising signs and Kay Displays Frame) is a highly sought out and rare find for collectors of Coca-Cola memorabilia.
