Description: Rare 19th C. Keller and Guerin Blue White Duck Fish Square Plate Curled Corners Wonderful late 19th century French Faience square plate with unusual curled corners. Made by famed Faiencerie Keller and Guerin of Luneville, France. Features a blue on white design with a duck, Morning Glories, and a fish among water plants. The mark on the reverse dates to 1880 - fluid script KG with “depose”(Trans: by hand). K&G made a variety of pieces in this pattern, including plates and serving pieces, featuring different water fowl. The curled corners make this particular piece a rarity. Measures about 8 ¼ inches wide. The corners are fully curled. The only fault I can find is what looks like a glazed over manufacturing chip under the edge of one curl (photo). There are normal imperfection in the glaze that are typical of this era. 12.8 oz.
