Description: Rare Antique Blue Onion Canister Almonds GMT Brothers Germany circa 1920. Excellent condition. A few scuffs, "flea bites" and crazing appropriate for age. Title is "Almonds" in cursive writing. Canister is 5-1/2: high , with lid 7" high, by 5" wide.Bottom stamp G.M.T.Bros (which is Gimbels Macys Brothers). The canisters were a "free gift with purchase promotion" for every barrel or bag of flour, sugar, beans, rice and other drygoods purchased. The housewife could use her "Pin Money" and buy utensils, the matching rack (I have seen 3 sizes) ,funnels, strainers, Mortar & Pestle set, butter molds, slaw slicers, knives and my personal favorite , the measuring cups which are super rare (I have one listed for sale in my account 1/4" liter). My great geandmother (Born 1888) told me about how she aquired her collection when Gimbels was a Dry-Goods store in Manhattan. Can you imagine ! These items are from my large collection that I will be listing in the future. (Canister, spice jars, meaasure cup, butter molds, mixing bowls, creamers, and several Villeroy & Boch Blue Onion items (looks similar).Shipping in lncluded in the USA.
