Description: Antique Rare Hand Thrown French Faience”Rooster” Plate c.1840s. The Rooster is the Symbol of France and here we offer a very old a piece of surviving French Faience . Please see the photos and observe the measurements. Note the diagonal size variations of 9.25” to less than 9” in photos 5 & 6. The diameter varies because the plate was hand tossed like a pizza before it was fired in the mid 1800s. Also note the glaze work particularly on the back in photos 7-12. We believe confidently this was made by St.Clement in Luneville, France and each piece is unique! With only Original kiln Marks this piece in this condition is a rare find!
