Description: The offering is the original owner/attendee’s vintage Official Souvenir Program for the Army / Syracuse football game played on 10.15.1955 at Michie Stadium. From the mid-1950’s through early 1960’s, the owner’s family attended numerous Army football games at West Point. This program is unique and collectible because Jim Brown’s individual team photograph, (page 41), as a Junior in 1955, shows “James N. Brown, center, Manhasset, NY”. Other references in the program list his position (1) as “LH” in the color center foldout, page 29, and (2) “Squad Roster”, page 31, “44 – Brown, James N., B, Weight: 212, Age 19, Manhasset, NY, Class’57”. Researching other 1955 Syracuse football programs (Pittsburgh, Penn State, Boston University & Colgate), Jim Brown always is shown as “LH”, with individual team photos having no position shown. CONDITION: EXCELLENT. All pages are intact and attached by the two (2) original, no rust staples. Front and Back Covers and all interior pages have retained their vibrant, rich textures – both in color & black/white. This program is complete, with no torn, stained, or missing pages. There are no ownership markings or writings. The spine shows no wear and the program lays totally flat. There are no creased, torn, “dog ear” or curled corner pages. The program measures 7.75” x 10.50”, contains fifty-four (54) pages with color illustrations and B&W photographs. Always kept in non-smoking homes. Please review the twenty-four (24) photos to assist in your assessment of the program’s condition since the photographs are an important part of the program’s description. Notable Highlights & Additional Comments: · Full page (p. 15) biography for Hall of Fame Syracuse Head Coach Floyd (Ben) Schwartzwalder, who trained future NFL stars such as Jim Brown, Larry Csonka, Floyd Little and Ernie Davis. · Mint condition full color centerfold pages (28-29). · Full page (p.13) biography for Army Coach Earl (“Red”) H. Blank, the winningest coach in Army football history. · Game Score – Syracuse 13, Army 0. · Jim Brown’s Junior Year (1955): As No. 44, he rushed for 666 yards on 128 carries.
