Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE RARE CAMBRIDGE GLASS AMBER #3400/71 NUT DISH OPEN SALT CELLAR APPLE BLOSSOM ETCH This lovely and elegant little salt cellar or individual nut dish was made by the Cambridge Glass Company, formerly of Cambridge, Ohio. It is part of their # 3400 Dinnerware line. This one is made in Cambridge’s amber colored glass and is deep plate etched with the “Apple Blossom” pattern deep plate etching. What makes this one rare is the amber colored glass with the etching; in 40 years of collecting these I have only seen five of these amber colored nuts with an etching. This would be a very hard piece to find. This one is clearly signed with the Cambridge triangle C mark on the underside. It has been factory ground and polished on the underside of the feet so that it sits level, a sure sign of a high-quality piece. The piece in my photos is the actual piece you will receive. Please be sure to read the “AGE AND CONDITION” and “APPROXIMATE SIZE” paragraphs below. Also, please read about our multiple purchase discount under the “PAYMENT, SHIPPING, Insurance & PACKAGING” paragraph below. I am gradually selling my salt cellar and individual nut dish collection that at one time was over 1,800 pieces. This piece has been in my collection since 1985. Specifically, this piece is the # 3400/71 - 3” Individual Nut Dish. This same shape is pictured (with a different etching) on page 31-4 (from 1931) 1930 THRU 1934 Cambridge Catalog Reprint Book The Cambridge Glass Co. by The National Cambridge Collectors, Inc. The “Apple Blossom” deep plate etching is also pictured in this same book on pages 1-9. This same shape piece is also pictured twice, as Photos # 411 and # 627, in the book 5,000 Open Salts by William Heacock & Patricia Johnson. These little nut dishes make a wonderful addition to a salt dip collection or would make an excellent collection all their own. In my opinion, the form, shape and proportion of these little pieces are just wonderful. With the variety of colors that Cambridge made these in, coupled with all their different etchings, gold decorations and cuttings you can put together a collection of just these that would number 30 to 40 or more different variations. They really make a neat collection! I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer. Please take a moment and visit our eBay store “TNK Antiques”. You can access our store through a link in any of our eBay listings. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables. Age and Condition The piece dates to circa 1930s. It is in mint original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines, scratches, repairs, or any obvious signs if wear or use to the glass. Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. Approximate Dimensions The piece is about 3” (7.6 cm) across the handles by about 2.5” (6.4 cm) wide and sits about 1.5” (3.8 cm) off the table. Approximate Weight About 1.75 ounces (50 grams).
