Bartlett, U. S. Commissioner by John H. Colton, 1854. This Map contains most of the region from the north boundary of California, the Three Tetons and St. Paul on the Mississippi, to the southern tip of Lower California, across Mexico and to the mouth of the Mississippi River. Evidently Fremont’s maps of 1845 and 1848 were fully and freely used, the interior of California is carefully mapped, and the Commissioner’s Boundary, 32o 27’ is shown. This is a Colton Map, and shows its origin in its appearance. The boundary line is the least of its worries, for it shows the whole Western Country south of the Oregon border.
