Description: Rare Craftsman Dayton Style Beveled Wedge Single Bit Felling Axe - All Original. Dimensions: approx. 33 inches long overall, 4 1/2 inch bit, 3 1/2 inch poll. Unusual design for a Craftsman axe. Great opportunity for the Sears Roebuck or Craftsman collector as well as the serious axe collector. The Craftsman trademark was registered by Sears on May 20, 1927. Arthur Barrows, head of the company's hardware department, liked the name Craftsman and reportedly bought the rights to use it from the Marion-Craftsman Tool Company for $500. The brand's early customers were mostly farmers. In 2017, Stanley Black & Decker purchased the Craftsman brand in a deal with a total value of $900 million. There is a $5 fee for packaging and materials (ships in a 40 X 8 X 8 sturdy cardboard container) including extra insurance due to the value of all full-sized axes. 424-AXE35-DNKY226
