California, with no studio shooting. It was directed, co-produced and co-written by Robert Gottschalk as a showcase for his Panavision process. The film was distributed by Crown International Pictures. *Robert Gottschalk was a two-time Academy Award winner. His first award was a Special Technical Oscar, awarded in 1960 for the development of the MGM Camera 65 widescreen photographic system. He shared the Oscar with MGM executive Douglas Shearer and Panavision co-founder John R. Moore. He received an Academy Award of Merit in 1978 for developing the Panaflex camera. Richard Debolt helped him with much of this work. Gottschalk bought an interest in a camera shop and later got to know a nearby outfit that made underwater filming equipment for Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Equipment restrictions at the time made wide-angle filming difficult, and Gottschalk began experimenting with anamorphic lens equipment patented by Henri Chrétien. In 1953, the CinemaScope process, based on Chrétien's patents, was purchased and named by 20th Century Fox. While the camera lenses were now available, the process required projection lenses as well. Gottschalk teamed up with several colleagues and began offering projection lenses under the name Panavision, which used prismatic rather than cylindrical optics. This led to a successful expansion into lenses for cameras which are still widely used. The trio sail the Medusa into port where they hope to gain a large monetary reward under the law of salvage. The mystery deepens when it is discovered that there are no records on the Medusa and serial numbers have been removed from the ship making identification impossible. The trio receive ownership of the Medusa and together with Marty's wife and Kick's daughter Sally hire it out as a bareboat charter to take a passenger to Baja California and the crew into danger. *PLEASE NOTE: Screen Grab of poster NOT INCLUDED - IMAGE ADDED AS VISUAL REFERENCE ONLY - THANKS! *International Buyers: Please make contact if interested well before auction closes to discuss shipping options. *BID WITH CONFIDENCE AND ENJOY!
