Description: Offered is an early rare size 13" wooden Georgian Doll, 18th Century, circa mid 1700s to late 1700s. I love these early dolls in this size as many are quite a bit larger than her! She is not perfect, as you cannot expect these early dolls to be, but she displays well and has been loved! These early dolls are my passion and it is not often that I let one go!She has a carved and gessoed more oval head (many have quite a round head) with stippled brows and lashes, closed mouth and fine nose. Inset almond shaped brown glass eyes. Human hair early wig. There is some wear to the gesso as you can see in the pictures, and areas of repaint that you can see in the black light pictures. Some chipping around her eyes has been repaired/repainted. Main repaint is on her forehead, nose and chin. She still displays beautifully, even with her flaws! Especially when you consider she is 250 years old! The blacklight picture is picking up more than what is actually repaint. She has jointed wood legs and cloth arms with worn leather hands/fingers. They are original to this doll. Original white paint on her legs. Leg joints work well. Her clothing is a mix of original and other. The remnants of her original frayed skirt are under the skirt that was made for her of antique fabrics. The dress sleeves are gone as well with the original dress fabric on the bodice area, albeit frayed and split. Her underclothing appears to be original to her. And I love her original apron with stitching and gold metal trim. A hard to find size that displays well and is a wonderful part of doll history. Shipping costs include full insurance and signature confirmation.
