Description: RARE EARLY CDV OF FAMOUS CIRCUS CLOWN - BILLY ANDREWS - PLEASE READ LISTING INFO - You are considering a CDV containing one of the early American circus clowns of his time, Mr. Billy Andrews. I have included a photo of a print out containing historical info on this gentleman in my second listing photo; please read. Those of you that have always heard the expression, "Crazy as a Clown" may not realize that many of these early clown performers were taken to the loonie bin; the reason, the face paint they used until around 1920 contained so much lead, most wound up insane. Unfortunately for Billy as well. He is wonderfully posed in this image holding his hat and wearing the early style of clown costume with detailed embroidery work. Good luck to my winning bidder. CONDITION: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of the image and as part of my description. The CDV remains in very good condition, with nice contrast, tones and sharpness. There are a couple pin marks or tiny scrapes in the background near the top. Very minor wear can be seen to some of the edges and corners. His name was printed at the bottom of the mount.
