Rare Fritz Heckert "Zypernglaser" or Cyprus Glass and Enamel Vase by Max Rade

Description: Rare Fritz Heckert "Zypernglaser" Glass and Enamel Art Vase by Max Rade A beautiful rare ornamental enamel and “Zypernglaser” art glass vase designed by Max Rade and executed by Glasfabrik Fritz Heckert (Petersdorf, Germany; circa 1898). I was informed the vase shape design is by Otto Thamm, however, I have not located documentation to confirm, as there is very little information available. Ligated in black flat color on base, azure blue cyprus glass, model-blown and formed, matt iridescent, painting in colorful opaque enamel and polished gold with black flat color contouring the golden circle horn blowing centurion and surrounding flowers. Josephinehutte reportedly made the “Zypernglaser” for Fritz Heckert and supplied it from 1891-1910. Max Rade (1840 – 1917), a well-known professor at the Art Academy in Dresden, provided art designs for Glasfabrik Fritz Heckert from 1898 to 1900. This vase is an example of his earliest work for the company and reflects a series of vases all with mixed mythological and traditional Art Nouveau / Jugendstil motifs. The vase is signed and numbered in black solder, FH 130/6 MR (Fritz Heckert, production #130/6, designer Max Rade). The vase has a polished pontil and fired rim. The body is round bulbous and lobed with a squat like form, this piece is quite spectacular. Dimensions: 14.5 cm or 5 ¾ inches. Noteworthy glasses with such motifs at Passau Glass Museum catalog, Pazaurek 1901 p. 28, Fischer, Heilbronn, 47th auction, cat. No. 871. Ricke 1989, cat. No. 344 me. This magnificent, beautifully enameled vase is in very good condition for age. Remarkably, there are no chips, cracks or restoration noted, there is light wear present. I purchased this vase from an auction in Austria, it was heavily soiled on interior and exterior. With careful cleaning, I was able to bring this rare beauty back to life. There are a few spots on the interior of vase that I believe could be removed with a bottle brush (I did not have one), regardless, it does not take away from the beauty and quality of vase. There is a small round inclusion on base, appears to be popped air bubble, smooth to touch. Please carefully view photos above as they are part of the item description!
