Description: This fabulous Purple Coral specimen is a rare find!!! This Purple Hydrocoral is an exquisite specimen for collectors. The only place Pink/ Purple Coral has been found was near Catalina Island, off the coast of California. It was actually sold as souvenirs to travelers. In the early 1970's, they realized it was not replenishing itself ( due to water pollution) and it became endangered and illegal to collect from the ocean. This is one of several pieces of purple coral that were in an old collection and we are delighted to be able to share with you. The corals in real life are much, much prettier in person than photos can show. Note in my photos that this purple coral is much darker grayish purple than many of my other, could possibly be due to the depth of growing. This specimen measures: 1.90" wide by 1.12" deep and 2.01" tall. It is a natural piece of coral and the color is natural as well. As shown in the photos, it does have natural irregularities, along with a few tiny broken tips etc. The color was difficult to capture and is a lovely shade of purple, we used different backgrounds to try to get true color, but that may depend on your monitor settings. Your coral will be extremely well packed for shipping and be fully insured. We only ship to the USA and cannot combine shipping due to the fragile nature of this coral, better to be safe than sorry.
