Description: Classic and Rare Original Victorian Period Knife! This is nothing short of a fine Victorian Bowie Knife dating from 1870-1890 complete with a leather Scabbard. Marked SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND fitted with original Stag Horn Grips and a German Silver Cross-guard. Includes a unique homemade brown leather scabbard with a leather Belt Loop with "BRUNHILDA" stamped in the scabbard. Blade is sharp and in overall good condition for its age with no chips or rust. The knife Bowie Blade measures 7" long and the handle measures 5-1/2" long (12.5" in overall length). I cannot confirm the manufacturer as most of the markings have been ground off from frequent sharpening, but based on other similar knives and the remaining marking text, I believe this knife was made by J. Rodgers & Son, Norfolk St, Sheffield England. This is a wonderful example of the Bowie Knives imported in the second half of the 19th century for use in the Gold Fields and on the Frontier.
