The Cuban Poster Gallery is thrilled to offer FOR A VIETNAM TEN TIMES MORE BEAUTIFUL, an original Cuban solidarity poster that salutes the Southeast Asian nation and its long-time leader HO CHI MINH (1890-1969). The Pop Art poster -- designed and released in Havana in 1980, five years after Vietnam declared victory in its war against the United States -- shows five Vietnamese citizens, including a child, soldier and farmer under a Pop-artsy rainbow and the gaze of HO CHI MINH. This exceedingly rare offset poster was printed more than 40 years ago by the Havana-based Organization of Solidarity of the People of Asia, Africa & Latin America (OSPAAAL), which promoted Cuba's solidarity with countries and revolutionary movements in the Third World. Like many OSPAAAL posters, the title of this graphic is offered in multiple languages -- in this case, English, Spanish, French and Arabic. OSPAAAL closed its doors in June 2019 after a long run as a publisher of imaginative Cuban poster art. The FOR A VIETNAM TIMES TEN MORE BEAUTIFUL poster can be found in prestigious collections worldwide, including the V&A (Victoria & Albert Museum) in London. The poster was designed by ALBERTO BLANCO, a well-respected Cuban graphic designer whose posters can also be found in the collections of the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City. The poster measures approximately 28 x 18 inches (71 x 46 cm). Condition of this poster is good with brilliant colors and minor imperfections, including some tears on the border.
