Description: 1907 Original Detroit Publishing Company postcard of "Sea Horse" (named by Schmucker on back of original painting). This card has the subject of women and water which was a popular theme for many of the Pre-Raphaelite artists in the 19th century. It is one of six cards in "The Mermaid's Lovers"Series and has a fantasy quality that is present in much of Pre-Raphaelite artwork. New Orleans Fine Books and Autographs will be offering the other cards in this set in the next few days. The card is in Very Good condition but does have a tiny crease restricted to the border area at the top right corner and another small crease at the bottom right near the Detroit Publishing logo..
