Rare Signed Vasa Velizar Mihich 2001 Lucite Modern Column Sculpture

Description: Vasa Mihich Optical Art, Gradient Striped Column, Acrylic Sculpture, Colors are in a Graduation of Ochre Yellow to a Mid Purple as they both move to the opposite side. Size 22 x 5 1/4 x 2" ,engraved signature, Vasa and date 2001. This piece is dated 2001 but is older then that, exactly unknown. In 2001 I purchase this wonderful Column directly from Vasa at his Studio. At the time he informed me that this came out of his personal collection, it has spent a few years in his bed room. Born in Yugoslavia, Vasa has lived in Los Angeles since his arrival in the United States in 1960. He is an academically trained painter and was a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles in the Department of Design and Media Arts. He taught theories of color to understand interdependence and interaction of color and form, color and quantity, color and placement, and after-image. Now retired as a professor emeritus, Vasa focuses on his conceptual art practice. His studio, designed to accommodate the technology required for his work, is located in the heart of Los Angeles.
