Description: Maker: The maker of this sophisticated and rare dinner plate is the New York design company Swid Powell. Swid Powell was founded in 1982 by Nan Swid and Addie Powell, whose collaboration produced bold contemporary designs in furniture, graphic art and clothing as well as china and other home wares. Design: The striking pattern - called Mari - features a band of light and dark blue swirls on fine pure white porcelain. The design was created in 1990 for Swid Powell by the Scottish designer David Shaw Nicholls and the American John Beckmann. A Mari plate is in the International Decorative Arts collection of the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. A partial label on the back indicates that the plate was produced in Japan. Condition: It's in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains, discoloration, repairs, crazing or wear. Size: It's 10 3/4 inches wide and weighs 1 pound 8 ounces. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
