Description: RARE Type 1 ~1972 Eisenhower ONE DOLLAR USA COIN~Circulated (Philadelphia Mint) **THIS LISTING IS FOR ONE COIN.** *My photos are not stock photos. These are photos of the actual coin in this listing. (The last photo of the Type 1 coin depiction is from sdbullion.com.) *The coin does not have a mint mark, thereby indicating that it was produced by the Philadelphia Mint. According to sdbullion.com, "The Philadelphia Mint produced three varieties of 1972 Ikes--because of Eisenhower's nickname--, using the cupro-nickel alloy. These coins can be easily identified because they have no mintmark." In addition, "1972 is a key date in the series because there were three varieties that year as the [US] Mint adjusted the design." *According to sdbullion.com's descriptions of the three varieties produced that year, this coin is a Type 1 variation. (On the earth above the eagle's head, off the coast of Florida, the three Caribbean Islands depict: The islands are easily distinguishable--well-defined--as three separate islands. It has a low-relief appearance. Unlike the later-adopted final Type 3 design, this Type 1 coin doesn't have the upper-left island located far west of the edge of Florida or the bottom left island as being larger.) *This mint year features the bald eagle landing on the moon in commemoration of the Apollo 11 Mission. *On the front of the coin, under the bald eagle's tail wing, are the initials "FG", which are the initials of Frank Gasparro, the Chief Engraver of the US Mint and the author of the design. On the back of the coin, under Eisenhower's neck, it initially looks like a nick on the coin. However, when you tilt the coin, you can also see the "FG" initials of Frank Gasparro. *Please look at the photos of the coin carefully and assess signs of wear on the front and back of the coin. When purchasing this coin, you are accepting the coin's normal circulated-condition signs of wear.
