Description: This is a vibrant and RARE Vintage Turkish Modern Exhibition Lithograph Poster, for renowned Turkish Modernist painter, educator, and illustration artist, Zeki Findikoglu (b. 1946.) This piece is a 1976 exhibition poster for The International Monetary Fund's exhibition of his artwork in Washington, D.C. This very scarce and limited-edition lithographic poster depicts Findikoglu's esteemed painting Çoban, which features a shepherd playing a flute, with his dog nearby. They are surrounded by an immense and gorgeously rendered field of red wildflowers. This rare poster is hand titled, dated, numbered and signed by the artist: "Çoban 1976," numbered "4/25," and signed "Z. FINDIKOGLU." Additionally, the bold gold lettering below reads: "ZEKI FINDIKOGLU...May 11 Thru June 11 1976. The International Monetary Fund. 19th & G Streets, N.W." Approximately 20 1/8 x 26 1/8 inches (including frame.) Good condition for age, with some light speckles of debris and dust under the glass, which is visible at the edges (please see photos.) Turkish Folk Tales: Bird Of Heaven / Siblings (2009) This book is written and illustrated by Professor Zeki Findikoglu. The author is a Turkish American artist and scholar from a small village in Turkey who is now living in Washington, D.C. Zeki Findikoglu has been creating artwork based on Turkish designs and culture for four decades. As one of the last remaining storytellers of traditional Turkish folktales, the author has endeavored to protect and revive this tradition by collecting and recording more than five hundred Turkish folktales and folksongs during his career. Findikoglu has gathered these from his grandmother and his mother, as well as from traveling minstrels and shadow puppet performers.This book contains two folktales, "Bird of Heaven" and "Siblings", which were told to the author by his mother. The accompanying artworks were created as limited edition prints. Zeki Findikoglu's extensive collection of prints and paintings has been exhibited in many museums and galleries and in several publications. The Turkish Tales of Nasrettin Hoca Since the 13th century, Nasrettin Hoca's clever witticisms have been passed down from one generation to the next. Unveiling set for design of Turkish nationality room (2005)The Turkish Nationality Room committee will unveil the design of the latest addition to Pitt’s 26 Nationality Rooms at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in the William Pitt Union (WPU) lower lounge.Since 2001, Pittsburgh’s Turkish-American community and Turkish students have been working on the design and raising funds for the new room.Omer Akin, professor of architecture at Carnegie Mellon University and the architect on the project, finalized the design, which is an interpretation of the bas oda (main room) interior of a traditional Turkish residence. The room also will feature four murals depicting Turkish history.The Turkish Room committee’s fundraising efforts recently received a major boost with a $150,000 grant from the Republic of Turkey. The committee needs to raise approximately $100,000 more before construction will begin.In conjunction with the unveiling, a two-day Turkish arts exhibition and sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 13 and 14.
