Description: FRESH FROM A WILLIAMSBURG HOME ARE 2 COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG SPIKE CANDLESTICKS BOTH MADE AT THE GEDDY FOUNDRY IN COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG CA 1947-1950. BOTH SIGNED BY MAX RIEG AND COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG. RIEG WAS A GERMAN SILVERSMITH, HIRED BY THE NEWLY ESTABLISHED COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG FOUNDATION TO BE ONE OF THEIR FIRST CRAFTSMEN IN 1937 AND HELPED SET UP THE SILVERSMITH TRADE AND THE GEDDY FOUNDRY MAKING BRASS AND PEWTER. HE RETIRED IN THE EARLY 1950'S. THESE WERE MADE BEFORE VIRGINIA METALCRAFTERS TOOK OVER MAKING BRASS ITEMS FOR COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG. BOTH IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. NO DINGS DENTS OR DAMAGE.
