Description: Rare WW2 Munitions Factory Gauge for Naval 2-Pounder Pom-Pom Gun No1 MkII Shell A rare ‘outside’ calliper gauge specially made for use in National Filling Factories (munitions factories) during the Second World War. This tool was designed for measuring the anvil body diameter within the primer of No.I, Mk.II cartridge shell for the Naval 2-Pounder Pom-Pom anti-aircraft gun. The gauge is made from steel and has a spring action. It is stamped, “Primer. P.Q.F.C. No.I Mk.II – Body Dia. U/C. Anvil Rec – N.F.F. R.L. 12-37” (Primer Percussion Quick Firing Cartridge No.II. Mk.I – Body Diameter – Anvil – National Filling Factories. Royal Laboratory. 12-1937). The reverse has two graduations, marked, “L363” and “H373”, presumably indicating part numbers. The gauge was likely used to identify which part number is fitted to the shell primer. Length: 112.5mm (approx. 4.42 inches). Width: 74.5mm (approx. 2.93 inches). Good used condition (naturally aged patina).
