Description: A collector's piece, circa early 1900s, beautiful painted 8 string mandolin in very good condition for its age.The label inside the mandolin reads:By His Majesty's Letters Patent,Patent No. 2272.NEAPOLITANCollege of Music.Not sure if the painting on the back is hand-painted or a transfer, with a lot of nicks, scratches and spots of paint wear.There are 5 repaired fine line cracks on the top, a solid repaired neck crack near the nut on the back of the neck.The instrument has a lot of marks, scratches, nicks and other signs of wear from age and use.The pick guard has a chip on the top of the sound hole and a few missing small pieces along the border of the pick guard.Please enlarge and examine all the photos for more details of condition as they form part of the description.The mandolin is solid, has a low comfortable action that is very easy to play.
