Description: 50 FRESH SEEDS, JUST HARVESTED THIS FALL/WINTER FOR THIS SEASON Very easy to grow, Cannas love sun (even in Texas) and will tolerate some shade and most types of soil. They look great in containers or planted in the landscape, and hummingbirds love them. THIS ONE WILL MAKE A FABULOUS SUMMERTIME SCREEN around pools, on a fence line, etc....very lush and tropical looking. The blooms on this species canna are a refreshing contrast to the huge heavy petals of the hybrids--and they come true from seed. VERY showy, with the long stems holding the light, graceful, dazzling red flowers well above the foliage and like a glowing crown. The seeds are jet black and hard like marbles, and for centuries have been drilled and used as beads and buttons. Perennial and a fast multiplier, frost will knock it to the ground for winter, but it returns robustly as soon as spring warms the ground. This one ranges from 4-7 feet tall in full sun, and above 8 feet tall when it's planted in light to medium shade. THESE SEEDS WERE JUST HARVESTED THIS PAST FALL, FOR THIS SEASON and are very fresh. They may be stored in the fridge until planting. TO GERMINATE, SEEDS SHOULD BE SOAKED IN WARM TO HOT WATER OVERNIGHT (at least) to as much as 48 hours before planting in starter pots. Then keep them moderately moist, but not soggy. Germination time: variable, about 3 weeks to as long as 3 months.. Patience required! One of my customers "scrubbed" his seeds on sandpaper to weaken the tough seed coat, and got a higher than 90% germination rate, with a greatly shortened germination time. (SEE PHOTO) Garden spacing: 12" or more, especially in southern zones, they do multiply quickly and grow FAST. Bloom time: mid to late spring until frost....VIBRANT COLOR ALL SUMMER LONG. Height: 5 to 8+ feet, depending on soil, watering and light. Zones: 6 - 11, perennial in zones 7 - 11 THESE SEEDS ARE FRESH, HOMEGROWN, HANDPICKED AND CLEANED, AND WERE COLLECTED FOR THIS PLANTING SEASON I CAN MAKE BULK QUANTITIES AVAILABLE IN SOME OF THE SEEDS I OFFER, AND WELCOME INQUIRIES! FREE USPS FIRST CLASS SHIPPING (Economy) FOR ALL SEEDS IN THE USA SHIPPING W/TRACKING (USPS Retail Ground) OR PRIORITY SHIPPING AVAILABLE ON REQUEST AT CHECKOUT ****I am happy to respond to inquiries and give the best information I have. ABOUT OUR SEEDS (A SORT OF DISCLAIMER): ***We grow, harvest, clean and store our seeds, ourselves.*** **Some plants are restricted by various states. We will notify you if we are aware of any restriction, but we mostly know about restrictions here in Texas. ULTIMATELY IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER to verify if your purchase is restricted by your state, county or city government. **INTERNATIONAL BUYERS......While we are happy to ship seeds internationally, WE DO NOT OFFER PHYTOSANITARY CERTIFICATES. Again, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER to verify whether or not seeds might be banned from import into that country and might be seized at customs. **MANY of the seeds we offer are NOT annuals with quick starts and short lifespans. Most are particularly suited to withstand the the extreme heat of central Texas summers. Some will take things entirely at their own pace and require a really warm soil and/or other special treatment for "quicker" germination...and germination MAY require weeks, months and longer. **There are all manner of predators and conditions which can affect, hamper or even destroy germination....like molds, soil fungi, bugs, birds, squirrels, armadillos, pets and other varmints, soil and air temps (day AND night), water, light, care or lack thereof, contamination of planting media, and the list goes on. **Germination tips are sent with each variety of seeds. The general method that works well for us in our location, particularly. **BUYERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO DO THEIR OWN RESEARCH for their particular areas. The internet abounds in information. Grower forums, county extension agents, and local nurseries can also be quite valuable sources. ** "FLOATING SEEDS" is not necessarily an indication of seeds with no viability. In some species, floating is the indicator that the seed IS viable....and in some species (like citrus) both sinkers and floaters will germinate, depending on the maturity and freshness of the seed. **** THANKS! **** _gsrx_vers_823 (GS 7.0.12 (823))SaveSaveSaveSave
