Description: Neocaridina davidi also known as Cherry shrimp are beautiful dwarf shrimp and great beginner freshwater invertebrates. They are very hardy, relatively cheap, and easy to breed. They do very well in a planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places. Females are larger, rounder, and redder than the males. After getting comfortable in your tank, they should breed prolifically. Cherry shrimp/ Neocaridina davidi do well in the same water parameters most tropical fresh water fish in the hobby enjoy. Clean water, relatively neutral ph, and regular feedings is pretty much all they need. They will eat algae, biofilm, vegetables, any food your fish don't eat, and yes...fish poop. They do not generally eat live plants, but will munch on the dead plant matter in your tank. Most inverts require calcium to build their exoskeletons and will need to be supplemented if your water is soft. Egg shells and store bought calcium sources work great.
