Description: This is an Original Red Ute / Edward Bent Box Sr. Traditional Handmade Indian Flute. The flute has a label identifying it as a 6 hole Key of F and made of Cherry wood. The Native American flute has a lighter wood totem with dots on it. This flute is signed with "RU" and retains it's original hand written paper tag. The flute is in good condition and measures approximately 22-1/2 inches long and 1-1/4 inches in diameter. The totem measures approximately 2-3/8 inches long, 1 inch wide and 1 inch tall. This flute is one of the last remaining original pieces obtained from the maker's estate. Please see photos. Edward Bent Box / Red Ute - his Indian Name, (April 1, 1920 - September 18, 2012) was a Traditional Spiritual Leader of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and member of the Moache-Capote Bands of the Ute Nation. One of his greatest passions was traditional Indian flute-making. He was a member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Assn. (IACA), Southern Highland Craft Guild, and the International Native American Flute Assn. (INAFA).
