Description: Handmade Lampwork beads are made one at a time by heating a cane or rod of glass over a flame torch and then applying the molten glass around a mandrel. The bead is held over the flame while it is worked on and cooled slowly to strengthen the glass. It takes a lot of skill to keep the bead from losing its shape and the adding of other colors in swirls or flowers demands much concentration. In this set each bead has its own pattern of dark red, white and blue. Most beads have dots of color at the outside edges and some are smooth. Sizes vary as much as 1.5mm in depth or circumference. This can be seen in the photos above.Colors are more vibrant in the photos as the red in the actual beads is almost burgundy. The blue is a basic blue color.
