Rivarossi 1340 HO gauge DR BR 98.0 / Saxon class I TV steam locomotive in black

Description: This really nice HO gauge loco by Rivarossi is 1340 a DR BR 98.0 / Saxon class I TV steam locomotive in black livery. It has running number 98 009. The Saxon class I TV were a class of 19 German 0-4-4-0 Meyer tank locomotives built for the Royal Saxon State Railways (German: Königlich Sächsischen Staatseisenbahnen, K.Sä.St.E) for service of the Windbergbahn. The Deutsche Reichsbahn assigned them to Class 98.0. Between 1910 and 1914, the Sächsische Maschinenfabrik delivered a total of 19 locomotives in 3 lots, which were largely similar in their design to the tried and tested narrow-gauge locomotives of the IV K class. The construction lots differed in terms of their service weights and external design. They were popularly known as "Windberglok" or "Cross spider.” After WW2 they continued to be used on their main line in passenger and freight traffic. Between 1952 and 1962 they were used double-heading uranium ore block trains to Dresden-Gittersee. The last class 98.0 was retired in 1968. one remains in preservation. The loco is in excellent condition as you can see in the pictures, it is tested and runs. A service is recommended before use to ensure smooth running as the loco has been sat on a shelf for a very long time. A complete external visual inspection has shown the overall condition is very good but please inspect the images closely. It comes complete with its box. The box is in somewhat worn condition. Overall this is a really nice scale locomotive and would look fantastic on a layout.
