An innovative painter, sculpture, writer, photographer, philanthropist, and filmmaker.Wyland's early inspiration grew upon seeing the ocean for the first time during a family visit to Laguna Beach, Calif., in 1971, when he was fourteen years old. The sight of a mother and baby gray whale migrating near the shore eventually inspired him to paint those same two whales on a life-size scale on an adjacent building in 1981. He captured the imagination of people everywhere by completing over one hundred monumental marine life murals around the world from 1981-2008. The project, known as the Whaling Walls, remains one of the largest public arts projects in history and continues to be seen by an estimated one billion people each year.He founded Wyland Galleries in 1978 with his first studio gallery in Laguna Beach where he lives today, and has influenced numerous traditional and street artists, including L.A.-based O.G. Slick. In 1993, he founded the non-profit Wyland Foundation as part of his continuing effort to inspire millions of people to take action to ensure clean water and a healthy planet through art, science, and conservation. Roy Tabora Born on June 18, 1956, Tabora continues the legacy of generations of artists who populate his family tree. Growing up surrounded by art and artists, his earliest memories are of watching the creative process in action. During his youth, he was an apprentice to his uncle, Rick Gonzales. Already an accomplished artist by the age of 22, he decided to continue his education, starting at Washington State University, and receiving his degree in fine arts from the University of Hawaii.Tabora is known in the fine art world as one of the finest seascape painters in the world. The splendor of his tropical shores is a constant source of Tabora’s inspiration. His work is magical with a remarkable glow that seems to shine from an inner light. His colors are all at once subtle and intense. He achieves this through a long and painstaking process of layering and glazing. Each layer builds luminosity and light within the transparent waves. His highlights and glazes complete his paintings, resulting in works that enter our minds and become our dreams.Roy Tabora has been painting professionally for over 36 years, in Hawaii, his island home he considers paradise. Generations of collectors have enjoyed his works worldwide, captivated by his ability to hold ethereal light in his oil paintings. Typically artists paint what they see. However later on Tabora realized that there was something more significant and moving beyond what is seen by the eyes, that is, what is felt by the heart.“I romanticize. What appeals to me beyond what I see, is how what I see makes me feel. It is that feeling that I wish to express with my paints, always hoping to convey to the viewer the energy and allure of this tropical paradise I call home.” References https://www.wyland.com/the-artist/ https://www.oagart.com/more-about-roy-tabora.html https://taboragallery.com/roy-tabora/ Grading Guide Notes: The condition grade is a subjective rating based on the observed objective physical features of the item to the naked eye The condition grade does not factor in the perceived beauty or aesthetic impact of the content itself Please view all of the item pictures and video to make your own informed condition decision before purchasing Scale: Excellent: No damage or issues barely perceptible from close viewing distance and bright lighting conditions Very Good: Issues visible from close viewing distance and normal lighting conditions Good: Issues visible from normal viewing distance and lighting conditions but do NOT significantly detract from the overall look of the work Fair: Issues that are immediately apparent from normal viewing distance and lighting conditions AND significantly detract from the overall look of the work Poor: Severe condition issues that require repair and some may be beyond repair Buyer Notes Grinding 4 Good does our best to accurately describe the items we offerItems are offered AS IS/AS DESCRIBED to the best of our knowledge, research and abilityThe buyer is expected to view the photos, video and descriptions carefully and ask questions before they purchaseIf you have an issue or question, please contact us via eBay's systemAfter you have received your item, if you are happy with our service and your new purchase please consider leaving us buyers feedback.
