Description: Roberts And Belk Gold Fused Silver Plated Platter. Here we have a Robert's and Belk platter 34.5 cm (well over a foot) across. Nice condition with a few very light age and use related marks as shown. It has rather unusual applied gold decoration which is presumably thin but solid gold fret work and fused to the body as there are no signs of wear whereas there are very slight signs of wear to the rim which does appear to be electro gilded. Very difficult to guarantee the decoration to be solid though without damaging the lovely finish. I have never come across this type of decoration before and am open to any comments by anyone who has actually owned ware like this.
