Description: BONJOUR DE BOURGOGNE ;)Roger CAPRON (1922-2006) Vallauris Olive Pot in ceramic with black and white geometric decoration, design 1950.Very beautiful and rare black and white enameled pot by Roger Capron, with the word "OLIVES" on the lid.The checkerboard and black and white chevron pattern in relief is very graphic.Roger Capron, born in Vincennes on September 4, 1922 and died in Cannes on November 8, 2006, is a French ceramist. Initially interested in drawing, Roger Capron was a student at the École des Arts Appliqués on rue Dupetit-Thouars in Paris from 1938 to 1943, before teaching drawing there from 1945.The discovery of ceramics pushed him to change medium: on February 6, 1946 he moved to Vallauris, where he created a ceramics workshop, Callis. In doing so, he joined forces with Robert Picault and then Jean Derval in 1948, thus participating in the renaissance of ceramics in Vallauris where he implemented the motto of his master, René Gabriel, "making beauty accessible to all".The white glaze, applied by dipping, for which Capron became famous disappeared from his works at the end of the 1950s. So here we have a pot from the 1950s.This is a very pretty designer piece in excellent condition, note however a slip jump when setting (see photos). Signed CAPRON under the base.
