The book is firmly bound in the publisher's lightly marked red cloth, lettered in slightly tarnished gilt to the spine, the extremities are somewhat bumped and rubbed. The text block is slightly toned, foxed and marked. The dust jacket is the original, it is grubby, creased and rubbed, with chipping and closed tears to the edges, it is almost completely split along the front hinge fold and has been repaired to the reverse with thin paper archival tape. Ahmed's influential treatise on magic and the occult, rarely seen in the dust jacket due to it having the flaky, layered consistency of a particularly desiccated Cornish wafer.
