Description: ROSENTHAL 1944 Christmas Plate Wood Scape with Deer Christmas in the Woods is the subject of the 1944 Rosenthal Christmas Plate, the 35th plate in the Rosenthal Traditional Christmas series which started in 1910 and which morphed into the Rosenthal Christmas Rose series (1974-2000). This 1944 plate features a deer standing at the edge of a wood, with rolling hills in the distance. Sometimes listed as “Christmas in the Woods”. Inscribed on the front WEIHNACHTEN (German for “Christmas Night”) 1944. Signed on the back: Artwork (Entwurf) by Willi Hein; ROSENTHAL GERMANY; Handgemalt (Hand-painted). Plastic button with hanging wire attached to back. Diameter approximately 8 ½ inches (21.5 cm). Book Value in 2002 was $400. The only other one now on eBay is price over $500.
