Bjorn Wiinblad (1916-2006) was a renowned Danish artist and designer, who worked with Rosenthal from 1956. A versatile artist, Bjorn Wiinblad created many world renowned pieces during his lifetime. Today, his works are presented in museums throughout the world, including The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, and The National Museum in Stockholm. He created a series of commemorative designs during the 1960s based on Mozart's Die Zauberflöte - The Magic Flute. This is one example. Wiinblad translated the story of his favorite opera into a relief in porcelain. with whimsical figures and detailed design elements.
