Description: Royal Doulton Salad Plate 8" Heather H5089 Gold on Ivory 1998 A beautiful ROYAL DOULTON Salad PLATE 8" Diameter, HEATHER #H5089 pattern in Albion Shape with GOLD on IVORY, Circa 1998 from Burslem, Staffordshire, England DESCRIPTION: This superb quality china has gold trim that is bright and vivid on an ivory background. This has a wide gold trim on the rim. The pattern is so pretty with a classic look. We have in our eBay store more listings of different items in this Heather pattern. We bought this set from someone who purchased it in May of 1998 and used very little of the set. CONDITION: While this plate is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings or hairlines. There is no wear to the gold or utensil marks. DIMENSIONS: The smooth rimmed salad plate has a diameter of 8" with a height of 1/2". HISTORY/MARKS: Henry & James Doulton purchased an interest in Pinder, Bourne & Co. in 1877. Pinder left the business in 1882 and it was reconstituted under the name Doulton & Co., Burslem. The Royal Warrant and the right to use “Royal” in the name of its products were granted in 1901. The business continued under Henry Lewis Doulton from 1897-1919 and then under his grandson, Lewis Eric Hooper, who remained chairman until 1955. This pattern, Heather #H5089, was produced in the 1984-1998 time period. The website marks4ceramics cites the mark as mark #6 used 1930's-2000 with the "Fine China" notation used after 1973-1974. We based the circa as 1998 since the original owner purchased this set in May, 1998. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
