Description: Royal Stafford Cup & Saucer Corset Green Gold Flower Scrollwork Bead 1940-1960's Royal Stafford Cup & Saucer 1940-1960's Corset Green Gold Flower Scrollwork Bead A beautiful ROYAL STAFFORD Footed Corset CUP & SAUCER Deep GREEN with Gold LEAF SPRAYS & Flowers with Gold Scrollwork, Circa 1940-1960's from Longton, Staffordshire, England Thomas Poole started his bone china pottery at Cobden Works, Cooke Street, Longton, Staffordshire, UK in 1880 using Royal Stafford China as his tradename. It was renamed Thomas Poole, Ltd. in 1925 and in 1948 merged with Gladstone China, Ltd. to form Royal Stafford China, Ltd. Their marks or variations of their marks continued to be used. This superb quality china has color that is bright and vivid on the high white background. This is painted on a blank of fine white bone china with gold trim on the edges. The cup and saucer are tied together by the use of the same deep green and gold pattern on both. The corset shaped cup has a gold band on the outside and a wider gold band on the foot. The whimiscal turquoise blue enameled beads accent the center of each small gold flower radiating out in a line of 4 additional beads from many of the flowers. None of the applied beads are missing. While this cup & saucer set is classified as used, there are no chips, nicks, rubbings, hairlines, or repairs to this stunning set. We can find no rubbing or wear on the gold. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the vivid color and no crazing. Both cup & saucer ping delightfully when tapped. The stand was used as a photo prop and is not included in this listing. The saucer has a diameter of 5 5/8" & its height is 7/8". The cup which has a diameter of 3 5/16" and a height of 3 1/8". As collectors ourselves, we tend to be very picky and find it necessary to point out anything we see. The Royal Stafford mark on both is identified as used in the 1940-1960's time period.
