Found this online below: The Alton Baking and Catering Co. was on the northeast corner at Front and George streets. Established in 1903, its officers were P.H. Paul, D.M. Kittinger, F. Nitsche and F. Theen. The business produced "fine bakery products, ice cream and confections." Thirty people were employed there, and circa 1912, the bakery was producing more than 2.5 million loaves of bread. J.J. Beeby purchased the concern in 1926. Noll's Bakery purchased the company and later sold it to Colonial.
