RPPC Timucua Indian Burial Ground – St Augustine Florida c1930s

Description: Real photo postcard depicting the building covering the Timucua Indian Burial Ground at the Fountain of Youth at St Augustine Florida. A few years after purchasing the Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth in 1927, Mr. Walter Fraser elected to plant some citrus trees in the southern part of the area. In 1934, a gardener was planting orange trees when he discovered a skeleton. The police were called, and it was quickly established that the remains were that of an aboriginal Native American. The skeletons, when excavated, were left in the exact positions they were found, and a building similar to an early Indian settlement was constructed over them. This is that building. No stamp box, just a postcard back. Very clean and unused. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.
