Description: I selected the Baritone horn instrument while participating in the music program at Curtin Elementary School in Altoona, PA. I started to take formal music lessons in September 1968 from Mr. Dellaposta who played in several Italian bands at the Cesare Battisti Club in Altoona,PA. He provided instruction for bass instruments and the piano. As I advanced with my musical ability, my Mom purchased this Rubank Advanced Method: Trombone or Baritone Vol. 1 Soft Cover Music Book in the fall of 1975 at the Gallace Music shop in Altoona, PA. The front blue cover exhibits the following text: “RUBANK EDUCATIONAL LIBRARY No. 96, RUBANK Advanced Method TROMBONE or BARITONE VOL. I, AN OUTLINED COURSE OF STUDY DESIGNED TO FOLLOW UP ANY OF THE VARIOUS ELEMENTARY AND INTERMEDIATE METHODS, Price $1.75.” This music book was assembled by “WM. GOWER AND H. VOXMAN” and published by RUBANK, Inc., CHICAGO” as displayed on the front cover as shown in the first attached high resolution photograph. The book’s dimensions are approximately 9 inches wide by 11 ¾ inches high. The book’s thickness is approximately ¼ of an inch thick. Note: There is nominal user wear and smudges on the front cover. My Mom also wrote my name “Michael Vahey” in blue ink along the top of the front cover. The rear side of the front blue cover contains no text or graphics as shown in the second attached high resolution photograph. The inside title page displays similar content exhibited on the front blue cover as shown in the third attached high resolution photograph. The subsequent page exhibits a “NOTE” and contains the following text: “THE RUBANK ADVANCED METHOD for Trombone or Baritone is published in two volumes, the course of study being divided in the following manner” as shown in the fourth attached high resolution photograph. Also exhibited is the “PREFACE” and contains information regarding “THIS METHOD” and “THE OUTLINES” which are included in each volume. The “Chromatic Chart for Trombone and Baritone” and “TABLE OF HARMONICS” which are exhibited and shown in the fifth attached high resolution photograph. The copyright information is exhibited on the bottom of the page as follows: “Copyright MCMXLI by Rubank, Inc. Chicago, III. International Copyright Secured”. Note: The transposed copyright date is 1941. The “OUTLINE OF RUBANK ADVANCED METHOD FOR TROMBONE Vol I BY Wm. Gower and H. Voxman” is exhibited in a vertical table as shown in the sixth attached high resolution photograph. The “OUTLINE OF RUBANK ADVANCED METHOD FOR BARITONE Vol I BY Wm. Gower and H. Voxman” is exhibited in a vertical table as shown in the seventh attached high resolution photograph. The “PRACTICE AND GRADE REPORT” template is shown in the eighth attached high resolution photograph. The first musical composition “Scales and Arpeggios” is shown in the ninth attached high resolution photograph. Note: The date in pencil on the top left hand corner was written by my music instructor and specifically highlighted since similar date markings are contained on most pages in this music volume. The last musical composition “Berceuse” is shown in the tenth attached high resolution photograph. Note: This is the only page that has physical damage, missing bottom corner measuring approximately one inch wide by two inches high. This missing section does not affect the musical notes associated with the “Berceuse” composition. The “PRINCIPAL ITEMS USED IN MUSIC” is shown in the eleventh attached high resolution photograph. Note: This is the only page that has physical damage, missing bottom corner measuring approximately 1 inch wide by 1 ½ inches high. There are a few principal terms that are no longer viewable. The rear side of the rear blue cover contains no text or graphics as shown in the twelfth attached high resolution photograph. The rear blue cover exhibits the following text: “Publications for WOODWINDS and BRASSES by H. VOXMAN” and “METHODS - STUDIES - COLLECTIONS FOR THE ADVANCING INSTRUMENTALIST”. The “ADVANCED METHODS” “SELECTED STUDIES” and “OTHER METHODS and STUDIES” are broken out by instrument. Similarly the “SOLO PUBLICATIONS” “DUET COLLECTIONS” and TRIO COLLECTIONS” are also broken out by instrument as shown in the thirteenth attached high resolution photograph. The bottom of the page contains the logo of the publishing company “RUBANK, INC. CHICAGO”. This music volume was printed in the U.S.A. Note: There is nominal user wear and smudges on the rear cover. As shown in the previous photographs, this music book’s exterior front and rear covers are in very good condition and the individual music instruction pages are in good to very good condition. The front cover contains my name which was written by my Mom upon purchase. There are some pencil notes from my music instructor to aid during my music lessons. There is some minor surface rust on the three staples on the band book’s spine. There are some pencil notes from my music instructor to aid during my music lessons on several pages, but those do not affect the ability to read the compositions. This vintage music book of original compositions would make an excellent addition for the novice or professional musician or music collector. Note: Photographs are an important part of my description; please review all photographs before purchasing. If my photographs and or description are lacking something of importance, please ask questions prior to purchasing. Thanks!
