Description: This unusual Russian lacquer box is in the shape of a miniature sarcophagus, with small feet and a graduated bottom. The top is beautifully illustrated with a king and three ladies, one of whom could be a queen. The background holds a ship and a building. The front panel also holds a ship and the back panel has a set of written words that I unfortunately cannot read. I am sure it is an explanation of the scene on top. The lid is hinged and the inside bright red. The condition of the box is excellent, no defects. Measurements are: 5" by 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" tall.
