I am not sure what it is made of, but I'm guessing either clay or porcelain (ebay made me pick a material.) It is hand carved, and the detail is extraordinary! It was carved to look like a log (possibly birch due to color.) The curves of the handle are just amazingly beautiful. I've looked hard and found similar ones, but nothing quite like this one. I don't know the maker, but it's a beauty! Free from chips and cracks.
