Description: Some areas of life, such as cutlery, are still imbued with a delicate historical touch, and that’s the case with CHIEN knives, like this cute object! It will become your favorite blade in the silverware drawer, mark my words! The Chien knife has been a West Indies tradition at the table for more than 100 years, and now it is ready for you, the American with your Wawas and Whataburgers and Buc-ee’s, to live a more meaningful life. America! The Chien’s a typical knife with a stainless steel blade that stands up to daily use. Its robust turquoise plastic handle adds an intuitive grip and a slight decorative touch. It is an ideal table knife. Originally, created by SABATIER PERE ET FILS, it was then taken over by France EXPORTATION, a former cutlery factory dating from 1793. Since 1980, this brand has been owned by THIERS-ISSARD and is still manufactured entirely in Thiers by the company THIERS-ISSARD SNETI SAS. This legendary West Indian table knife is highly prized and present in every family. There’s even a sauce that gets its name from this knife, known as “the CHIEN sauce”. The herbs that make up this recipe, onions, garlic and parsley are prepared with this knife. Historically, it was mostly made with a metal handle, but its handle has changed for convenience to an easier-going material. TI’s signature’s made with a metal punch (silhouette of the dog knife affixed before tempering) as it has been for more than 100 years. THIERS-ISSARD respects the tradition that is in steel, in the grinding, polishing, overmolding of the handle and above all, the sharpening which is done entirely by hand. When you buy the CHIEN knife, you buy over 100 years of a Thiers cutlery tradition. Bulk packed. 1.4031 (aka Z40C13) Stainless Steel. Made in France.
