He graduated from the Art Department of Shanxi University in 1987 and later studied under the renowned art historian and leader of China's New Literati Painting movement, Mr. Chen Shouxian, at the Chinese National Academy of Arts. Zhao has held significant positions in the art world, including Dean of the Calligraphy College and Director of the Institute of Calligraphy and Painting Culture at Shanxi Normal University, as well as Director of the Shanxi Academy of Painting. He is currently a member of the Shanxi Provincial Writers Association and the Honorary Chairman of the Linfen City Artists Association. Rooted in tradition from a young age, Zhao's artistic journey has evolved from simple and elegant early works to a more rustic and substantial quality, and in recent years, to a gentle and refined style. He excels in various forms of Chinese art, including landscape, flora and fauna, and figure painting, as well as calligraphy and seal carving.
