Description: Framed caricature of "Joe Craig" by Sallon of the "Daily Mirror" The text under the picture reads as follows:- There will never be another racing manager like JOE CRAIGthe "Professor" to the many brilliant riders who took orders from him as members of the Norton team between 1930 and 1955. A racer in his own right, four times winner of the Ulster Grand Prix, Joe left his native Ballymena to preside over the Bracebridge Street racing department throughout its most successful period. After his retirement he lived in Holland, but was, to the great regret of his friends, killed in a car crash in March, 1957. This picture is from a set of cartoons commissioned by Shell-Mex and BP Ltd. to mark the 50th anniversary of the Isle of Man TT races in May 1957. It featured motor-cycling personalities both from the past and present at that time. See my other auctions for some of the other pictures. Historical picture framed in a 25 x 20 cm. (10 x 8 inch) size clipframe. Naturally the picture you are bidding on does NOT have the "SAMPLE" watermark!! Powered by WonderLister Desktop App
